LMU-DCOM’s Dr. Sherry Jimenez Recognized as a Distinguished Fellow by the National Academies of Practice

Dr. Sherry Jimenez

Lincoln Memorial University-DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine (LMU-DCOM) proudly announces that Dr. Sherry Jimenez, Senior Associate Dean of Interprofessional Education, Simulation and Accreditation, has been selected as a Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies of Practice (NAP). This prestigious recognition honors Jimenez’s commitment to interprofessional collaboration and her contributions to advancing health care education and patient care.

NAP is a nonprofit organization that advocates for affordable, accessible and coordinated health care. It is the only interdisciplinary group of health care practitioners dedicated to advising government bodies on health care system improvements. NAP brings together outstanding practitioners, scholars and policy leaders from a variety of fields, highlighting the critical role of teamwork across professions in improving patient care.

"I am humbled to be recognized by this NAP academy comprised primarily of physicians for something I am most passionate about,” Jimenez said. “Having the privilege to work with experts from multiple disciplines across the country to develop collaborative practice curricula for the next generation of health professionals who will improve patient safety and outcomes has been and will continue to be a very fulfilling aspect of my career. I am grateful."

To achieve the status of Distinguished Fellow, individuals must demonstrate outstanding contributions to collaborative practice across disciplines and dedication to improving the health care system. Fellows are selected by their peers based on their significant achievements in promoting interprofessional collaboration and patient care.

Jimenez’s dedication to fostering interprofessional education and her leadership in simulation-based health care training continue to shape the future of health professions. She will be formally inducted as NAP Distinguished fellow during the annual Induction Banquet and Awards Ceremony held in March 2025. LMU-DCOM congratulates her on this well-deserved recognition.
